Stopped by the local watering hole and my dealer had set out some new lots. I spotted this stockbook on the shelf and said "Huh?" It is by far the most overstuffed stockbook I have ever seen. Stamps falling out everywhere.

It's common stuff, all used U.S. airmails, with no key issues... but there's just an absolute ton of it.

I figure there's gotta be 5,000-10,000 stamps at least. When he told me the price of $20 for the lot, there's no way in heck I could say "no".

What will I do with it? Probably look through it for nice crisp socked-on-the-nose cancels to keep and then make up a bunch of "X different air mail" packets to sell and to give to the local stamp club.

I only photographed some of the early pages, not the later ones.

It really is a gawdawful mess... but the kind of mess I like.

What a great deal. And the best part is, they are already sorted for you! I wish I would come across something like this. I'd just pop them into glassines, look up the Scott number and add them to my filing drawers for youth.

Have fun and hope you find lots of "goodies!"

i don't have any more room for bargains..last night a guy brought in 5 minkus global supreme albums with a fair representation of stamps up to 1970...to our club meeting...they weigh a ton..they take up 1/4 of a room...but where were they when I was starting out collecting?...i don't recall good deals back then...now stamps are virtually coming out of the woodwork..there are more stamps than collectors !!

Note that the dealer unloaded the hoard for 20 dollars..he wasn't going to wait 30 years to sell the stamps individually at 10 cents apiece !!

This must be the definition of "win-win." The buyer is saying, "I can't believe I got that for twenty bucks" and the dealer is saying, "I can't believe I got twenty bucks for that." Everybody's happy.

And, if it's not fully sprung, you have a new stockbook, too!

I have a few stock books that look almost like that. I really have to get on the ball and start unloading some of my spares.

There may be a few in there I need, I check and email you I'll just bet I have something you can use.

Great find!

I wonder if there are any with the biplane cancel in all that!
I didn't see any in the scans, but think there should be some tucked away in there somewhere.
