This cover has no markings, front or back. Except on the flap, which I can't read. Anyone got an idea on what this is? My best guess would be a sensor cover of some sort.

It wouldn't be a censored cover, as it is domestic (within the US).

The fact that it has a precanceled Chicago, IL stamp would preclude the need for any other postal markings (i.e. postmarks, etc.).

The return address is from Straus & Schram which was a Department Store/Mail Order House in the early 20th century, apparently bought out by Spiegel in pre-WWII days, based on this notation:

According to a 1930's copy of the catalog, "Spiegel has recently bought out Straus and Schram's mail order business inventory completely." (I recall seeing a catalog dated 1942, perhaps it was issued by Spiegel.)

I read the flap as "For postal inspection pull out this fold" and "Columbia Envelope (maybe company), Chicago"
