In connection with the second card addressed to Dr. Carl Altman, he was apparently an inventor with Western Electric. Here is one of his patents for a "Beta Tantalum Resistor" (whatever that is!):

It's for resisting Beta Tantalums.

(Kids can be seen having tantalums in the supermarket
when they can't get what they want)

I had an investment in a tantalum (or tantalite)mine a few years ago, but it never made me rich, in fact I lost $5000. It was at a place called Widgeemooltha, Rod would probably know that place.

Oops! Sorry Phil, got a bit off topic.

I am so sorry for all of your people's unknowledgeable gibberish. There is no excuse for those of you over 20 not knowing what a Beta Tantalum Resistor is. If you had thought about it at all you would have known, remembered and recognized that Beta is not more that the second letter of the Greek alphabet and often used in testing (Alpha being the first test) Beta being the second and Tantalum being the 2nd person passive reflexive for the root word tantala or translated from Latin tantalize and Resistor, I HOPE, needs no explanation at all. If you haven't remembered by know, I feel bad, but I will remind you that it was nothing more than a second generation testing spray for mosquito repellent. I hope that clears it up for everyone and should you need any more explanation about this or other mundane expressions, just ask. (signing off but sorely disappointed) - Jeff
