Hi All!

Here is something else that was in a bag of stamp goodies.
I have no idea what it is. I think I have posted this before, but I can't find it...

I am guessing it is not a stamp.
Brazil 100 Consumo REIS, I don't know what any of this means, or who the person is on the 'stamp'.

Also, backside perfin holes are: C C D

Thank you!

Can't help much with the specific specimen, but I do know that roughly translated "consumo" = "home consumption". So I assume it is some sort of tax revenue stamp (band) that would have shown taxes paid. Probably applied to tobacco, coffee or some other type of home consumption goods.

Let's see what others have to say...

It is a stamp. It s a revenue stamp. Wt1 is correct that this is for the consumption of a product, in this case, an alcoholic beverage.

Reis was the name of the currency in Brazil early on. Their currency name has changed a few times between when this stamp was printed and today (inflation, hyperinflation issues). Today Brazil has a stable currency.

CCD may indicate the office that sold the stamp, or the alcoholic beverage company that was to use it. To date there are over 5000 distillers of spirits in Brazil. Finding what CCD stands for may be quite the research project.

These are collectible.

They were either attached to the bottles or the case of liquor. Keep in mind that the US also has similar revenue stamps affixed to their products, showing that the appropriate taxes were paid.
