A case worthy of Sherlock Holmes - in 1896 a young Frenchman was murdered for his stamp album!

Murder most foul. I can only wonder at the thought process in leaving a dead body in a trunk at a train station then returning the next day to "claim" it!?

Wow. That is most unfortunate. 1896 was about when worldwide stamp collecting was at its height. What does it say about the murder that he left the corpse of his victim in such a public place?

I'd like to see a journalist try and get away with describing a suspect in those terms nowadays!

Hi to all

In the real hayday of the 1970"S there were quite a few valuable collections of stamps stolen in Melbourne.
One was even found hidden in a pawn dealers house hidden under his bed with a valuable painting that had been stolen.
I would say that it still goes on, robberies that is, as persons now are becoming more aware of the value of some stamps.
Regards
Horamakhet

They wouldn't have got caught if they hadn't gone back to claim the trunk (with the body in it)!

What a strange story.
