Nice example, pretty good centring. Also, nice light cancel that actually lets you see the stamp. Just look at him go! |

Nice appearance but there is a pretty good likelihood that the stamp is reperfed on the bottom. |

I_Love_Stamps, margins are probably one of the last things you should look at if you suspect a reperf, especially on the 1869 pictorials. I have little doubt the stamp is reperfed on the bottom. |

To expand on Sinclair's statement about reperf. The big giveaway is that the bottom perfs are very circular and very clean cut. When you see this do the flip test. The alignment isn't real bad but the perf hole on the National Bank Notes was about .83-.85mm and the reperf appears to be about .95-1mm, noticeably bigger. You can also see the difference in the punched hole with the reperf being very clean and smooth edges with almost no fiber around the punch. |

well for what I paid and the fact that I don't have a sound copy- I'm tickled pink. Re-perfed or not I do not care but thank you for the concern. And Russ why would someone re-perf such a nice specimen? possibly was a straight edge maybe? Anyhow for 13 bux I'm not complaining any. Russ thank you for the education on the reperfing as I had no idea. PS I didn't get that 121 I bid on as it went waaaay over cat value. oh well.

Good purchase, ILS. Still a nice copy even with the bottom reperf. It will take time to learn how to spot reperfed stamps, but a good strategy is to do what Russ did ... compare the side in question with another side from the same stamp.
Cheers!
