A stamp dealer named Steve Schinbeckler from Ohio is giving 1,000,000 used worldwide stamps to the APS to be used "to further advance the hobby."

Now that's what I call a pay-it-forward!

Maybe we could organise a million stamp give-a-way on this forum one day. It could bring some new members in.
Lets see, that's 1000 from me and 500,000 from Bob, only need another 499,000. LOL

Steve

I tried to get my 11 yr old niece interested in stamp collecting while she was visiting from California. She was more interested in the Disney channel, but a friend's 9 yr old daughter is interested, BUT only in collecting butterfly stamps! How do you get them to open their eyes to see more than just the butterflies--I tried the flowers, the dolls, the dinosaurs, and even the sharks and she said "Nope, just butterflies." ARRRGH.

Gussy, my recommendation is to let her rip with the butterflies as long as she wants to. If she has the true collecting bug it won't last long. She'll get interested in other topics or areas of collecting as she goes along.
