You have some nice pieces there but unfortunately no trip to the South of France. What you are showing here are pretty common items that were produced in the Billions and are the lower value pieces of the sets they were part of. The Columbus issues don't bring value until you get up around the 50 cent Stamp and the $5 Columbus piece sells for $500+. Please keep posting and don't give up yet :) |

You've got 7 of the 2c Columbians. Just for fun, check the hat of the gentleman standing three to the left of Columbus. If there's a wedge cut into his hat you've got a 'broken hat' issue. This was caused by a plate defect. Not worth a lot more than the regular one, but still could be accorded it's own place in the album. |

I missed the 1 cent franklin on the second to last row, 1st stamp. While the condition does not look too good, it might be something. Also the 3 cent Washingtons will need a closer look by someone with more expertise. The $% freedom head is a nice piece probably in the 5-10 dollar range. |

Very nice group of stamps, don't see a bank breaker, but certainly some fun stamps. |

Stallzer I don't see the #573 your talking about but I do see the hinge remnant where it was supposed to be. is this the one you meant? |

whoknew can you do a higher DPI instead of just a blown up smaller picture? A higher resolution image would aid in better identification for your stamps as sometimes there is "secret marks" that are very subtle and may be obscured otherwise. ~Jay Great stamps IMO I would be proud to have4 any one of those. If you decide to sell any of those blue Franklins get in touch with me especially in the next 2 days. Also any of those Trans-Mis issues I'm pretty keen on too. |

Looking at your stamps again, I just noticed the two 2c Panama Canals in the second row of your first scan appear to be different colours. I think that means you have a SC398 carmine and SC398a carmine lake. Couldn't tell you which is which but I'm sure one of our colour experts can. |

Quote: I think that means you have a SC398 carmine and SC398a carmine lake. In general, the carmine lake variety would be a darker color than carmine. However, while I'm no expert in this, I doubt that the color variations are 398 and 398a as previously stated, as the catalog doesn't even list a used price for a 398a (apparently because there are too few on the market to develop an accurate value). In mint condition the 398a goes for almost 100 times the value of the 398, suggesting that it is a relative rarity and it would be highly unlikely that is the particular stamp shown. In referring to a Scott Specialized Catalog, I see there is another color variation of both carmine and deep carmine both listed as a 398. I suspect that is what you have scanned. In that case, there is no change in the modest $1 catalog value for either of those varieties. |

oops. Thanks for clarifying wt1. I was only going by my regular 2003 catalogue, and didn't really notice the values. Hope I didn't get you too excited who knew. Really got to get me a specialized. But hey, at least I noticed the colour differences. I'm not totally unobservant. |
