I found this perfin recently and found the initials U.S.E. (a period follows after each letter) to be rather interesting. It's obviously on a precancel from Worcester, Massachusetts:

Can anyone identify the user of this precancel?

U.S.E. is Pattern U73, and is from the United States Envelope Company, in (you guessedit) Wprchester, MA. Used between 1902 and 1945. Rarity factor "E", common.
Hope this helps.

Bob.

Thanks for the information.

Who would have thought that it was from a company that, along with its subsidiaries, had produced 17 MILLION envelopes EVERY DAY in 1898 (according to this article anyway) ... I just wonder how many more (or less!) envelopes envelope companies produce today!

Considering the 30-cent stamp shown was issued in 1923, it puts the usage range within the 22 years between 1923 and 1945.
