I have this 10 cent stamp that is from the 1893?? series but the color does not match. I know there are forgeries with many Venezuela. Is this one of them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Jeff

The 2011 Scott Classic specialized states:
"After July 1, 1895, stamps inscribed..."Instruccion" were no longer available for postage. Stamps of design A25 in shades different than those listed were printed after 1895."

So this shade stamp was probably used for revenue purposes, and Scott usually does not list revenue stamps.

Hi jhlovell,

It is a Venezuela revenue for school tax.

The stamp is from the set of 1901 (3 sets 1893, 1900 and 1901)

Engraved by American Bank Note Company
Perf 12
Blanco 90, Yvert 84 10c Red
