Trying to identify the precancel type shown here for Montpelier, VT:

At first thought, it looked similar to a Type 622, but the spacing isn't right; so that leads me to believe it must be an L-Type, of which there are several listed varieties.

The approximate measurements are:

12.5mm between bars
2.0mm between top bar and city and state and bottom bar
17.0mm wide city name
6.0mm wide state name (including period)

Thanks for whatever help you can provide.

This is PSS622 - the catalog says dimensions are approximate because the device is rubber and got distorted by age and use.

Thanks.

I thought it looked similar to the Type 622, but the spacing didn't look quite right and since there are so many precancels that are assigned a different type with just very subtle differences I thought for sure that this would have a type of its own, but as you noted, if the dimensions are only approximates because the device got distorted with age, I guess it's understandable.

Also town letters are much taller than the height of the state letters. (3mm and 2.5 mm for 622.)
