Labels of 1919 Generals
I'd be very grateful if anyone can tell me about the labels illustrated at
http://leamphil.users.btopenworld.c...Gens1919.jpgWho do they depict ? Who printed the labels and why ? are there more in the series ?
Regards,
Nick Bridgwater
They depict some White Russian Generals (and Admiral) from the Russian Civil War:
Gen Alekseev (green)
Gen May-Mayevsky (blue)
Admiral Kolchak (red, orange)
Gen Konilov
Gen Denikin
Thank you ... any ideas on:
1) What battle and who the larger label depicts (shows someone holding a crucifix
leading the army) ?
2) Who/where/when the labels were printed ? ... presumably as propaganda
Regards,
Nick
He is a Russian Orthodox Priest blessing the troops before battle defending their
homeland. Priest could also participate in defending of mother Russia and the people,
church, but could not take communion for 5 years afterwards.
It is believed the labels were printed in Italy in the early 1920's.
