Big Bow, Kansas is now a discontinued post office. It was in operation from 1925-1981, according to this Wiki quote:
Quote:
Big Bow is a small unincorporated community in Stanton County, Kansas, United States. The first post office was established February 17, 1925, and was discontinued June 2, 1981.
Interesting that a search on the USPS web site reveals that the closest post office to that location is currently 10.3 miles away. Certainly a reality check to those communities where consideration is being given to closing non-productive post office locations. In the case of a remote location like Big Bow, KS, though, there's no general store or pharmacy or any other location to substitute for sales of stamps or for mailing of packages, etc., so one must travel the 10.3 miles for any of those services.
Back to the Big Bow precancel, though, I suspect the company initials were for the Collingwood Grain Co. Although no longer in that location, they do have a lingering reputation, as the State of Kansas web site reports they contaminated the public water supply because of a leaking underground storage tank (a big and expensive mess to clean up):

On a lighter note, the Collingwood Grain Co. is still in business in the area and uses railroad equipment such as illustrated here:
