Have you ever thought of this?

Sometimes when I'm soaking a batch of stamps thinking of the saliva that went into sticking them to the envelopes, I wonder about the variety of DNA that could be found in that messy water. Was just soaking some of a circa 1940's mix that came from Mike, and most of the DNA in there is a little older than I am!

Should we be wearing latex gloves for the task?

Shhhhh,
If we speak of this to loud I am sure some politician will decide that we have to protect the children and they will have to wear protective clothing.

By far the most common.

I'm more worried about all the viruses and bacteria on all those old pieces of paper.

OMG you guys are always too much. Modern I have sat there and thought that very same thing about the DNA on the stamps. Wondered if any one famous licked it or maybe even about the occasional virus that may have been put on it. Guess we will only be able to speculate.

I wouldn't worry about the germs on the stamps--just wash your hands after handling them. We normally carry staph, etc on our skin---it's just when it gets in an open wound that problems arise. Also, if your immune system is seriouly compromised an infection is hard to fight.

Of course, there's always a germ lurking out there that is the exception...like phil or bobgggg! ha

Gussy,

Isn't it true that staph infections are so common in hospitals because they are spread by the nursing staff? That's why they're called staff/ph infections!
