Greetings. I am very, very impressed with this community's knowledge, generosity, and kindness. Have looked at many posts and especially loved the engraved stamp images- some of the most beautiful I have ever seen; thanks for posting.
Grandpa was a collector; he died when I was an infant. First collection was several hundred used Scott 804, which I probably glued to sheets of notebook paper at about age 6. Started up again with US new issues when 15-18, then took a break until late my 20's when I began collecting Ireland and US transportation plate number coils.
inherited Grandpa's collection several years ago and now am getting into it. 50+ plain notebooks with a mixture of published pages and homemade ones, covering mainly Western Europe, US, and Canada. Also some bundleware, precancels, a few dozen old catalogs, and books by Ashbrook, Luff, Brookman, Johl. Collection includes his childhood album, The Scott Imperial from 1902 now containing mostly poor condition stamps + remainders of paper hinges. He took a break for school, work, family then picked it up again mid 1930's until he died in 1951.
I'll have a few things to scan that may be of interest, including some auction lots still on bid sheets from the Becken Stamp Shop, date 1946-50. He didn't have money for expensive stamps and neither do I, but there is a nice set of Graf Z, Trans Miss unused, and some very nice German material from the 1930s-40'sin these old albums.
