About a year ago, I started putting all my pocket change into a jar every night when I got home. I just cashed in so I would have some loot for the stamp show this weekend. I ended up with $308 in coin.

Other than extortion, robbery and such, what ideas do you guys and gals have for funding your collections?

Every night after dinner, I take a walk with my wife's shopping cart
and I pick up soda cans and empty beer cans.

The big bonus comes on Tuesday, because Wed. morning is the recycling pick up..

Last week I hauled in $ 36 bucks.

On a good Saturday afternoon, I am good for about 25 bucks worth of cans, in the WalMart parking lot.

Last year, I totaled $14,565.35

Wow Bob

That's detemination. I'm one of the people that puts my empty soda cans in the recycling.

I just take from my garening budget( I'm a bit of a fanatic so after the bills are paid the rest goes to the gardening budget. Needless to say I can spend more in the winter months on stamps.

When I lived in England (1947/70)I was busy working to bring up a couple of kids
so stamp money was scarce but the little I had I used to buy small collections at the local club auctions. I would take out what I needed for my collection, usually 15/20% and put the remainder back in the next auction at a different club. That way I nearly allways got 95% of my money back. In the end my collection grew to 120 Schaubek Large Albums and together with the stamps I did not collect but horded I managed to fill half a bedroom. Now in the last 3 years I managed to place some 50% of my stamps in new homes....Richard "G"
