Thinking about buying this.
It is described as sound except for some short perfs

It's a 90 E Grill

The centering is pretty nice for this issue. I would request a back scan. There are a few areas along the side perfs that mignt have perf tears and a back scan would help to determine if and to what extent they exist. The areas in queston are left of the "TWELVE" and on right on first 2 perfs below the center side ornament. Does have a face free cancel.

31% of Catalog value ? I don't see a problem with spending that much on that piece. Well centered,no visible faults...sure why not ? Short perfs on 150 year old Stamp is nothing unusual in my world, besides it almost guarantees one thing, that it's not re-perfed

SV, with a stamp like that one, a buyer has to accept the fact that it's over 150 years old and obviously it's traveled a long way. The design is beautiful and Washington's fact is untouched by the relatively light cancellation. Striving for absolute perfection - but only at a "reasonable" price - is an effort in futility. I'd like to bid on it since I need a #90 too, but you found it first so I'll abstain.

Also get some details on top right corner. Specifically, look at the 3rd tooth from the top at the right side, and the frame there seems to have lost some integrity -- maybe a small scratch or scuff?

Definitely a pretty stamp, though!

Stampvirgin, I agree with Russ, large scan of the back is imperative.

A much closer look at the right hand perfs might be advisable.

the owner of the stamp, lives about 30 miles from me. So, if I do buy it, I'll go pick it up.
I did ask for a back scan.
