... my brother walks in and asks "Do you have any stamps?".

I just gave him a blank stare, then set my catalogue down and pushed away from the computer screen showing stamps on ebay.

At least he didn't look for one to use by himself :)

This one is close enough to current, first class postage, lol!

Has anyone lost any important/valuable stamps to a family member not asking first?

Brian

I have a bag marked "Postage", containing current commemorative stamps for everyday use, on mail to SCF buddies, and the like. One day I just couldn't find it anywhere. My husband found me rifling through my usual disorganised mess, surrounded by loose album pages, glassines, envelopes and allsorts. "What are you looking for?" he asked. "A stamp!" I replied crossly. Oh how he laughed....

Stampgal et. al.,

When my wife asks me if I want her to bring a newspaper from the shop I often say: "Thanks but I'm done soaking for this week...."

We have a small stock book in the 'letter & card' drawer, that I top up occasionally with mint stamps from collections etc acquired, for my wife and boys to use. That way I do not get them going through the 'collection'.
Nothing has gone missing to date :-).

As a teen I had standing orders to the family that they touched my stamps at their own peril. Same for my coin collection. My grandmother was noted for scrounging up anything and I figured that my stamps and coins were fair game in her world.

I was looking for a stamp to mail a bill payment and asked my wife if she had any. Her response: "You have a whole freaking room full of stamps!"

Yes, my wife often rolls her eyes at the irony of my having to go to the post office for stamps, so I can mail....stamps.
