Hi! again!

I need your expertise again! I have a few covers with SC205, most of them I would say are "yellow brown", execpt of one. I read that there were a special printing that were "grey brown".

If you take a look at this picture (comparing 4 covers)

The top right one looks much greyer than the rest. These are not SC216 , since they were all used before 1888issue. The top right one (cover) has a CDS - 1883 Kennebeach.

Do I have any problem with my eyes or is that supposed to be a yellow brown as the rest? :)

yes, I know that there are only 21 known copies or such.. But I still find this shading business extremely weird sometimes!

Tomten, I have a problem with my eyes (color blind), but the upper right looks gray brown to me as well.

However, 205 came in brown, yellow brown, and gray brown. The special printing, Sc 205c, doesn't appear used as it was issued without gum. Other than that, I don't know what criteria is used to identify the special printing. Sorry :(

Alright thanks! Didn't know that it came in different shades. Doesn't say so in my catalog at least, only says yellow brown. :)

However.. without gum.. makes sense.. Didn't think of that :) Well says something about special paper..

Thanks again!

On this page it says brown, yellow brown and dark brown.. Which, in my opinion, doesn't fit to my stamp there.

I just happen to have a Scott Specialized catalogue of US stamps & covers here at work, else I would have to rely on an online resource. If you don't have a copy yet, I highly recommend it!

Well I do have 30-40 covers from USA, but don't know if it'd be worth getting one of those catalogs just for those. :/ Thanks for the tip though!
