Or anyone familiar with His Royal Majesty King George 6

The Bahamas 2 pence gray SC # 103 has a used Catalogue value of around $ 19.00.

My question, the cancel appears to say Payment 1943 Red Cancel.

David.. do you have any idea if this stamp may have been used as some sort of revenue stamp ??

If so, does the catalogue value lessen ?

What else is on there, Bob. Is there another cancel in black that looks postal?

Bobgggg:

You have a revenue cancel on that stamp. All of the colonies, and some of the Dominions, like Canada, used the postage stamps for both purposes, even though they did not state "postage and revenue" on the stamp.

The value of your stamp is 10% catalogue, because of the revenue usage.

This stamp is VERY hard to find postally used. Even the copy in my KGVI collection has a revenue cancel on it. Oh well!

Hope this helps.

Incidentally, the correct title of our former-King is:

His Late Majesty King George VI
