Well I have been on ebay since 98 and this is a new one on me...i had a couple of bids on a set of Argentina stamps and I get an e mail from ebay that the bid has been cancelled...and to find out why go back to the original bids screen...i can find nothing about it...i sent the person who listed it a message..lets see if I get a reply ! I would think the decent thing to do would be for the one who listed the item to contact me ...not ebay !!

Is the item still listed, or did it get pulled?

Looks like the seller ended it 12/22 and I just received the e mail from ebay...ebay says to look at the bids history to find out why...he reset the bids to zero...i went to look at his other items and there are none anymore...the guy has 2200 positive feedbacks and no negatives...i am waiting for a reply to an email I sent him...i guess ebay turns a blind eye to this practice...but how would I know..they are certainly not the best communicators in the world !

Sometimes dealers list things on multiple sites and/or take the same items to shows. If it's sold, they cancel any bid and close the auctions.

I had an item I would have bid up to $70 on SCF.
There was no movement, until the the last day when
I was fast asleep over the other side of the world.
It sold for a quarter of the price, both the vendor
and purchaser miss out, but not a great deal you can do.
You just cop it and grin.

Yes Phil, that's the outside,
I find it interesting to note the internal demon that starts to yell,
disappointment to desire etc.
There is no tangible change in circumstance
but the internal person can get quite worked up. :)

I had similar situation a while back with a seller I had placed a few bids with. In fact I had won a few items but asked him to hold on to them until the other auctions had finished as he lived relatively close by and I was planning to pick up the lots I won (heavy albums etc, save on postage ).
Then suddenly he "disappeared" from ebay. I emailed him and asked what was happening. He said he'd been suspended by ebay due to some grievance from another customer. He had great feedback, and I was more than happy with him, but I didn't ask for any details. But I was actually really angry with ebay because they hadn't sent any explanation to me, when I had lots won and paid for, waiting to be collected. The seller had not been able to contact me as his account had been suspended. It was just lucky that I already had an email address for him, having been in touch about previous lots. I ended up collecting my lots and while I was there, picking up some more stuff and just handing over some cash.
