Just discovered this forum. If all of you are highly sophisticated stamp collectors, I may not fit in. You may run me out of town on a rail.

Let me explain - in addition to being a stamp lover, I also love writing letters with fountain pens. I correspond with people all over the world, and of course their letters come with interesting stamps on them. I'm keeping what I call a stamp journal. I soak the stamps off my friends' letters and use hinges to put them in a blank journal (acid free paper) and make a note beside the stamp telling whose letter it came on and making note of anything of particular interest in the letter. So it's sort of a combination scrapbook and stamp album.

OK, I've come clean about my unconventional method of collecting stamps. Can I stay?

Judybug

Post some of you're scrapbook pages sometimes.

Glad to have you here! I also have been putting stamps on acid free scrap booking pages--why not--it's our collection, right? I have others in stock albums, etc.

Would love to see some of your collection! Do you use calligraphy pens, too?

BTW, Phil doesn't bite!

Thanks for all the welcomes! Whew! I was worried. Here's a page from my stamp journal. These stamps didn't come from pen pals. I found them in a box of papers that my dearly departed mother left.

to the SCF Judybug. We'll take anybody with a screw just a little bit loose!

I'm the other Louisiana nut job PhilB was talking about. I'm up Nawth in West Monroe.

Your collection is actually quite interesting. Any stamp or cover with a story or history is more collectible. I'm impressed with your idea!

Shucks, I just threw away a rail. About the only way you can attach a person
to one of those is with duct tape or spray adhesive.... although the temperature lately softens the asphalt a little. There are some "classic" stamp collector's personalities here, but it is a gentle group compared to some other forums.

Welcome!

Jim
