bi-sect-u-al [bahy-sekt-shoo-uhl]. noun. One who collects bisected stamps. While preferring complete documents over bisects just on piece, most collectors will go both ways.

Seriously though, I finally got around to processing the two bisects on document that I bought from a fellow collector in November.

Awesome Bisects guys I especially love the Southern Pacific Railroad Company article. I have a soft spot for railroad items since my Grandfather worked for MoPac for several years

A very interesting and unique part of postal history. I'd just wish I had one as a conversation piece. Beautiful documents.

1st-issue revenue bisects are a very esoteric area. There are not a lot of them out there, but it's also a fairly narrow field of specialization, so there isn't a lot of trackable demand... hence the Scott Catalog doesn't get updated frequently.

Same thing with the 1st issue double impressions.

These two areas are something I've only been pursuing for about the last 2 years or so, and finding them is tough. Moreover, even if you have "duplicates"... there really is no such animal when it comes to bisects; they're all pretty unique.

It gives one pause when you try to correlate scarcity with value... a U.S. #245 will cost you thousands... a set of C13-15 will set you back at least a grand. Yet you will find them at every single stamp show and every major stamp auction. Whereas you might go years between seeing examples of certain bisects or double impressions being offered on the market... and they catalog for small fractions of #245 or C13-15.

Bisects and double impressions are actually orders of magnitude more scarce than dollar-value Columbians, #1 or #2, or C13-C15, but because there are not as many people looking for them, the values have stayed low.

Personally, I'd rather buy something fairly unique like a Civil War-era bisect for $100-300 than so-called "keys" that you can find everywhere on the planet.

I'll pay at least 75% of Scott for any legitimate 1st-issue revenue bisect on full document, or double impression, and in some cases well above Scott.

Those are great, but I also have none to cherish. One of these days though I hope to have at least one. Did I mention what a great site this is to have found?
