Interesting that the vignette on the first two of the Statue of Liberty is so similar to the Statue of Liberty on the 4th Bureau Issue of the 1920's. If the wording on the two is true then they are 1914 and 1915.

Just finished reading the article you posted wt1. Not only is it interesting to find out I have one of the first NWLDA Liberty stamps, BUT it is also the stamp of any kind to be made in the USA with the likeness of Lady Liberty on it. These stamps preceded the USPS first issue with Lady Liberty by, somewhere in the ball park of, almost 8 years. Thanks for finding this info I have saved it to my computer and when I can get a printer running will print it out to keep handy with the stamps. Also does anyone know where I could get ahold of a SC# 1044a $.11 Liberty stamp for a reasonable price. I need one to finish my liberty set.
