Any Thing Here Of Any Interest?

Just wondering if there's anything here of interest or only to me















I like this one below the most because it reminds me so much of when I was growing up and when the station used to turned off (back in the day when they did) and this lovely pic was then on for hours along with a lovely hissing sound to go with it

So I just had a quick look at the old book and found one that's in the 6th pic down a little to the right of centre with the zip code on it and in 1981 it was worth .30 unused and .06 used so would anyone like to have a punt as to what it would be worth today, .05

On your last two scans a number of stamps have browned edges and perforations. This has been caused by incorrect storage or dampness amongst other things. Take these out, they may be infectious.

It will make the remainder look much nicer too !

ausjack, regarding your remarks about the Czech stamp, if you can remember the days of the test pattern on the TV, you're definitely a senior citizen. Welcome to the Gray Generation!

Among other things, my kids have grown up in a world where there are no tv test patterns.

oh, and, what are those of us that remember tv test patterns in the wonderful monochrome world of b&w?

ausjack, since I only collect US, your definitives of Queen Elizabeth II were the first ones I've from Australia. Quite different from the Machins or any of the classic profile stamps! I am curious about the crown that she is wearing. When she is portrayed as sovereign of Australia, as on these stamps, is there a specific crown she has to be wearing? I may be wrong, but I thought that at the height of the Empire there were specific crowns attached to individual parts of the realm - like the crown with the Star of India diamond was indicative of the king or queen's rule over India. If my facts are somewhat muddled or pure balderdash, I'm sure you'll correct me.

Mixtures like these reminded me as a kid too. The old stamp catalogues in particular because I would go through them over and over again. BTW - should you ever be interested in trading that perfin, let me know

On another note, Dave, that test pattern also brings back memories as well. The days of glorius black and white tv and all the old cartoons and serials were great and then all would end with the hum of the test pattern.

Also, let's not forget Kate Smith singing the U.S. national anthem before everything went off the air and the test pattern came on

As I recall, Queen Victoria, and Edward VII and the two Georges all had separate crowns specifically for their roles as Empress/Emperor of India. I'm not sure if they had others for their roles as Queen/Kings of other parts of the Empire. (Victoria would have had to be pretty fast on her feet to have one made for her as Queen of Australia. She was only Queen of Australia for a couple of months before she died )

Thank you very much londo, really appreciate the advice..shame I now have a job sorting all these stamps..but I suppose you get that when they've been put away for about 20 years.

I'm not old and I'm not grey..yet..maybe a little

Yeah everythings 24/7 now days. Poor little mites just don't know what they've missed..but with this new digital I'm reliving the day like it was yesterday, can't wait for them to bring back buck rogers and some of the other show we got in country NSW

Sorry Ipmiller, I wish I could correct you but I have no idea as most of these stamps got put away in about 88 so that's why I'm here so you guys can fill me in on what's happened in that short time Sorry I couldn't be of more help. But what you say sounds like it might be correct as you'd think they might not want to drag all the stuff from england all around the world..but then again A little help from an expert please

Sorry mate but not interested in trade, but if it's not worth much I might just send it over..just have to find out first sorry as I'm now on a disability pension so I was more trying to find out if I have anything worht holding onto or selling as I need the money but don't want to get rid of my past either..it's all very hard to try and work out what to do these days But again if it's not worth Jack so to speak it's your for free mate, sorry I can't do any more for now.

Quite the opposite actually,
When a perfin is properly Identified,
it is required to be "tied" to a cover, evidencing
from whence it came ( The top shelf would be a business
replied paid cover)
The next best thing is a postmark, so we know "A & Co"
possibly existed around Granville. (but it may not)

I just plonk your image in my database for future reference.
(Therein lies the appreciation)

I don't have an Aussie Perfin catalogue
so I have no idea of the scarcity, but your stamp and postmark
is fairly battered, I shouldn't think the stamp is worth much,
but you never know in philately.
