First of all, I am not a collector but inherited an extensive stamp collection from my husband. Does anyone know anything about metal engravings of stamps. I have 8 of them and they appear to be Japanese and are all from the 60's. They are really pretty but I don't know if they have any value.

If they are engravings of actual issued stamps, I would think that they would almost certainly be illegal. I would be careful about posting images...

They are most likely from the plates used to print catalogs or other advertisements. Not likely illegal at all and usually a cute novelty. However, without a better picture or description, they also can be anything from Franklin Mint silver ingots to the gold foil stamps included with those "collector's" covers.

Need more info.
