Nigeria was overprinted by an area that tried to break away South Arabia was overprinted too Thanks Kuhli for you additions (or rather subtractions ) They are a great addition to Warrehouse's excellent work. I thought of starting with a list of world issuing organisations and removing those that issued overprints but this is a much better way. |

Yes, But they are new and different entities. If you wanted this become a third catagory overprint of an old or different state for the creation of new state!
By the way Peterethio, Thanks for the earlier statement!

Quote: Thanks for the earlier statement That's fine, I really appreciate it. My world catalogue is an SG 1980 Simplified so I couldn't have done what you did. I have a more in depth catalogue but it is 1976 and I'm missing volume 4. |

You Are Welcome!! We did not touch on unlisted SG & Scott issuing entities. this list could triple!
But we could do a reverse list of entites that only used overprinted issues. |

Quote: Yes, but they are new and different entities. If you wanted this become a third category overprint of an old or different state for the creation of new state I sometimes find it difficult to get a concept from the mind into print concisely and accurately; please excuse my ambiguity. What I was looking for is a list of stamp issuing entities whose stamps were not overprinted for any reason. This means that your list still stands, Warrehouse, but perhaps there are a few places that need deleting. Sorry I didn't make this clear earlier. Quote: But we could do a reverse list of entities that only used overprinted issues. This would be interesting. As you have probably noticed, I find overprints and overprint varieties very appealing to collect. |

Falkland Islands Dependencies: In 1956, 4 stamps from the 1954 definitive set were overprinted Trans-Atlantic Expedition 1955-1958.
Nyasaland: In 1963, 11 Revenue stamps were overprinted POSTAGE, and a couple of them also had the denomination overprinted.

On the plus side: Malacca, Penang and Perlis don't appear to have any overprints. |

Warrehouse, I'm afraid Dhar and Duttia are out - that's why I omitted them from my list of the Indian Sates on page 1. The first (typeset) types of Dhar were only supposed to be issued overprinted with the Maharaja's monogram: and no Duttia stamps were supposed to be issued without the control overprint: This is what they look like on the odd occasion they were actually used: |
