Hello,

I am putting together a prexie series color study and need help with identifying colors.

Scott lists several of the color variations with a different year of issue (mostly 1943).

Is there some way of differentiating the later issues besides color?

Is there a reference set online or in a book?

Right now, all I can do is arrange from dark to light, don't have a clue of telling blister brown from buff for example.

Thanks for your help.

Blade

You might be interested in reading this work from the Smithsonian archives (unfortunately, not in color). It seems as though it is not exactly an easy subject to tackle:

Here is a link that provides a comprehensive and expert color study of the Prexie issue (in color) from the 2011 Congress Book.

Thanks guys!

More good direction for my pursuit of color.

Looks like I need to buy a Foster & Freeman Video Spectral Comparator 6000 for my studies.

They are kind of pricey, but maybe a used machine can be picked up on e-bay :).
