Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I scanned the stamps from my step fathers album, they are not in great condition, but he was wondering if there are any stamps of note. My knowledge of American stamps is woeful. Thanks for looking.

Hi Braveheart
Afraid there's nothing special here. The 2c vermillion stamp on the lower right of the page is an Andrew Jackson from either 1875 or 1879 depending on the paper. The blue in the middle on the top row is a documentary stamp, used on official documents, as opposed to postage.
The rest are from the 1920s, 30s and 40s. Common stuff.

Sorry. To be more specific about the documentary stamp. They are for use to pay taxes, a type of revenue stamp. Yours dates from 1898 SC#R163.

Any time I come across a $1 Woodrow Wilson (next to last row, center) I check to see if it has a watermark. Without watermark, value is less than a $1. With watermark will fetch $50 more or less depending on condition and centering.

It is so much nicer to see the stamps in their correct orientation. I think this is the nicest one of the bunch:

Again, common items with little to no value. your only hope would be if any of the Washington's were a rare type and the odds of that are sadly slim to none. As those shown are from the 1930's and 1940's written communication was the only affordable way to communicate over long distances so Stamps of this era were produced in the hundreds of Millions. I love the Minneapolis Pre-Cancel though...

Hi Braveheart, nice to see some of your stepdad's stamps. The best part is that they each tell a story and if you look hard enough they will tell it. Thats the fun and someday, just maybe someday whoever continues to collect these stamps might just be the one to find a .......... . Best part of all this is the friends you have just made! - Jeff
