Any thoughts as to what company or organization used this perfin? It's on a 10c James Monroe Stamp (1926-1928 series) and bears a Kansas City, MO precancel:

I'm not even sure if the center character on the bottom row is supposed to be an "O" as it is missing the bottom perf ... or maybe it's just out of place given the single dot after "FOE" (?).

My perfin catalogues can't help too much. GS/FOE, perfin pattern G164, value as a precancel is $1.50, rarity factor is C - user unknown.

Ryan

edit: that should read "value as a perfinned precancel" ...

Thanks. At least I found out it is GS/FOE.

With rarity factor "C", it's one of the rare instances when the stamp as a perfin/precancel is worth more than the same stamp without it!

Will look it up when I get home if someone hasn't come up with the answer by then.

Thanks to all of you for the help in trying to look this one up for me. Actually I've accumulated a small collection of US perfins (typically from the 1930's and 1940's) and I place them in a glassine envelope with a small post it note on the front. That way, when I get some of these answers as to perfin type, user, value, etc., I have each example properly identified.

I still have a bunch more US perfins that are still unidentified. If you folks don't mind, I may post a few more in the hope of identifying them.

Thanks again for your assistance.
