These stamps were issued when New South Wales was a colony until 1901. It's a state of Australia. You can find them in Scott cat. under Australia- Australian States.

Thanks timbres667,

I do not have Scott etc. The stamp collection I inherited has 5 completed albums which I had appraised and put right in a bank safety deposit box! The rest of the collection I am piddling with. I see all this stress with ebay, perfs, markings and you know what. I do not want to get into this part of collecting. I started to collect European stamps from 1956 to 1973 and Se-tenants. The rest is for pure enjoyment of finding, posting and give aways.
Sometimes I get some feedback, sometimes not but I have learned a lot and the beer tastes better with looking at a stamp..
Thanks for your info. I will put them with Australia...

The 2-1/2d is such an odd distinct design of Queen Victoria I vividly remember getting one in pack of British Colony stamps I got at a local dealer in my early days of collecting. Despite having little value, I remember being fascinated that it was my first stamp I ever got that issued in the 1800's.

And I still have it.

I agree. I think that 2 1/2d is very distinctive for the time. Yours would be a SC#104 from 1899 (there's an earlier purple issue, 100 from 1897). It seems almost crude in comparison to some of the other stamps of the day.
The 1d could be from the same 1897 set, depending on the perfs. Perf 12 makes it a #98 (1897) or 11, 11x12/5 or 12x11.5, wmk 12 make it #110 (1905-06) or same perfs, wmk 13 make it #122 (1906-07).
The 2d has many possibilities:
#99 1897 perf12 deep blue
#103 1899 perf12.5x11.5 or 11.5x12 wmk55 ultra
#111 1905-06 perf11, 11x12/5 or 12x11.5, wmk 12 deep ultra
#123 1906-07 perf11, 11x12/5 or 12x11.5, wmk 13 ultra
You can check the perfs, watermarks and colours.

The last one, the 1/2p is blue green and could also fall into these dates, depending on perfs and watermark.
#102 1899
#109 1905-06
##121 1906-07, though this one is listed as green.

Hope that helps.

Do you mean you are collecting "Europa" stamps. I saw you posted some. I have a Europa collection almost complete from 1956 to 2005. I made all the pages for this collection from 1979. For 1956 to 1978 I have 2 Minkus album. You make good use of the stamps you inherited with your great contributions to the topical thread. Some would have just sell the collection for quick money. Thanks everybody. I put the stamps in the Australian book all the way in the front.

Yes I started a thread with European stamps with the same motive in all the countries. Also I have a book, each page for a year's issue.

I found quite a few and need to do some postings. I did not realize how many stamps there are. I believe there is a complete set in the 5 books I have. I will not sell these. It is a nice German collection since 1800 something.

timbres667, if you looking for some special ones please let me know.
If I have them you are welcome...

Ok...again thanks.

Just a polite suggestion,
perhaps change your thread title to
"New South Wales"
rather than South New Wales so we can search for it.
