Well, I can get a scanner from a friend of me, so I go for scanning the stamps.
That's wonderful, ain't so?

I have, for now, no more questions, but maybe at an other time.
So please keep this topic open!

Hi tomd

If your MAC software can import files with an extension of .CSV then yes it will work for MAC users. By the way are you using MS WORD for MAC?

Well, then I go save some money for a scanner.
But how do I scan them?
1 by 1 or whole pages?

If a scanner is out of your budget then you will have to deal with that, a new scanner is worth around $300, ideally you
will need to look at an Epson, they have the better
scanning and manipulation software.
You can even scan a page of a book and turn it into text.

Hopefully scouring your local markets
you may pick up a second hand scanner for $30-$40.

You can scan upwards to 40 stamps in one pass,
and use the SCF "bursting " software
to isolate and save each stamp of the page.
I am really impressed with that.

UPDATE
My bursting software I downloaded here, no longer works

Hi tomd

Since you do not have Office for MAC then the application will not run on a MAC. The reason I asked about WORD is that I could have given you a WORD template (VBA) that would do the job. You will have to run the application on a Windows machine and transport the CSV file to the MAC.

Jerry,

We could still try it might work???
Funds are tight, that is why I have not gotten any of the programs to make a Mac run a PC file. It does seem to be a in the future buy probability.
Since a lot more programs run on a PC that are free then a Mac.
But Apple has come a long way in being able to convert files as DOC 's and others.
So if this works here then other Mac users on the forum could benefit from it.
And if it don't then we would know.
What do you think?

Hi tomd

First off, if you ever want to know what a file extension is, like OFX, go to this site and put the extension in the search box:
http://filext.com/alphalist.php?extstart=%5EA

and for OFX:
http://filext.com/file-extension/ofx

Right now I have the generator code embedded in a WORD template. If you were running Office for MAC I could make a screen in VBA and it should all work on a MAC. I am converting the code to VB.NET and anything written in that language needs software called .NET Framework which will not run on a MAC. Some reference a 3rd party piece of software and that cost is anywhere from $100 to $600. Bottom line is to wait until you get Office for Mac and then I will convert the VB.NET application back to VBA (I will then have an input screen created).

Another solution is this. If you have access to a Windows machine then you are welcome to a copy of the software (once I finish). Put the software on a CD and execute the program from the CD. Put any output CSV file(s) on that CD and use the CD to transport the files to the MAC.

E-mail me at jerrybemail-stamps "at" yahoo "dot" com and use MAC Program as a subject. We can then continue this discussion if you wish.

Hi stampvirgin

Based on a GOOGLE search there seems to be some version of Open Office for MAC. However, any MACRO/Template programming language is not Microsoft VBA and a total re-design and coding would be necessary. It is bad enough to convert to VB.NET.

Thanks guys,

My wife has a PC, "No Stamp stuff on my PC she tells me".
So I get Office for Mac or give her that puppy dog eyes and say pleasssse.
I was hoping to keep it all on this computer, vs trying to transfer back and forth.
I will have to look around to see what I can do to get Office for Mac.

Actually, I use a software titled: "Collection & CRM Registry Database" ...

Friendly & very easy to use & track your collections even if they are categorized

Cheers

Simple.. as a worldwide collector I check them off in the Scott catalogs. a check 0n the left side of the catalog # indicates Mint, and on the right used.

When it comes to my specialty albums, Germany, Spain, Malta, and Greece. I simply have a Excel sheet of just the Scott #'s I need.
The infamous want lists..
