I try to keep it simple, and just use a catalog and mark it down as either used or mint. Works for my country collections, but I am thinking about doing something with my Norwegian collection so I know if a stamp I come by would be an upgrade from the one I have. |

When all else fails good old paper and pencil never breaks down. One ring binder, A4 paper in alphabetical order and the pencil. if you let something go, the eraser is also a valuable tool. Sometimes the old ways are the best!! |

An interesting note about this list's abbreviations is that they are seemingly based on the country's name as a native would say it.
Sounds confusing so an example is called for.
Switzerland (as we know it as in English) is abbreviated CHE. Why?
Switzerland's full name is the Swiss Confederation, which in Latin is Confoederatio Helvetica thus the C HE.
Switzer is an obsolete term for the Swiss, used in the 16th to 19th centuries. The Helvetii were a tribe living on the Swiss plateau before the Roman era. |

I did not know that?
I just need a short code for a county's name vs writing it all the way out. So I google country codes and got this. I figured if the UN is using it I could also.
Then again why is Gold {Au} and Silver {Ag} and Iron {Fe} on the Periodic Table of elements. This is due to what it was called when it was made up. It works for me. But that is good information. Thank you. |

Thank you for the scans, tomd. So with pencil and paper, and some scans and catalogue numbers I can make a clear list? It is here now 10:54PM, and I'm going to bed, goodnight everyone |

Tomd, can you help me, setting up a few columns which I need to make for a stamp list? So, like I earlier said: "So with pencil and paper, and some scans and catalogue numbers I can make a clear list?".
I love to write, on paper, so which columns should I make for a collection list? |
