Nice ones there. I love the image of Frankie on the #9. To me this is a better ( what he looked like ) than the later stamps and also on coinage and paper money. The guy was pretty hefty and through time pictures of him show him a bit fitter than he actually was. I'm a big Frankie half collector and I really wish they would have used this image rather than the "fit" version. He does resemble Danny Divito ?? (Spelling) in his role as the penguin in Batman. |

Thank you for the wonderful comments and I am excited to get these I only wish the 9 wasn't creased. Oh well for what I gave for them I certainly am not complaining! It worked out to 31.00 for both of them! Think that a deal or not? I am going to pay the 6.00 extra for the expedited mail service as I have rotten luck getting anything through the mail from that continent for some reason? Poor Zang_Chen <sp? sent that french cover out to me from his home in China and I still haven't received it yet! There was something else recently too, but it currently escapes me. I just better stick to US sales for a bit!
EDIT: Just in case you didn't know they was from the same guy in France.
ALSO I just noticed it says 7 on the back? Could it be maybe? |

Quote: Nice stamps ILS, but I love the 78! Thank you jhlovell. That one I gave around $15.00 U.S.D. for it. I wasn't going to flyspeck it to death for that price. |

ILS, I would say your 9 is probably a 7 but it is pretty hard to tell for sure since it was clipped so close at top and bottom. |

I'm getting a #7, #14 & #37 next month. All sound. The pictured 9(7?) just comes along with the deal. I'll keep it. I love the early blue Franklin's |

I'm more inclined to see a 9. In the detail below, the bump on the left end where the recut begins is distinct. Hard to say where it ends. Recut once bottom places it in the top row, and given where the left end begins, I'd posit 4L1L. Unfortunately the cancel is well placed over where the guide dots should be. Of course you need to post a high res of this when it comes in, ILS. |

What appears as a "bump" is present to varying degrees on many if not all Type II's. When I look for Type IV recuts I look for a thin, well defined line. |

Quote: Of course you need to post a high res of this when it comes in, ILS. Will do Otto. Thank you for the information as I am really starting to love the early blue Franklins and want to learn how to identify them correctly. I know now to look for a more complete specimen and sharp details on both the top and bottom of the design. I'll use this stamp as sort of a reference piece to help me with learning them. |

Nice! Though I'd say George looks a little unhappy peeking out from behind that cancel. |
