So much for my attempt to get a local January 31, 2012 cancellation on the John H. Johnson stamp. Someone has to do something about these spray-on cancels!

I can barely make out the "Brockton MA 023", but what is that stuff below supposed to be? Tried to buy my John H. Johnson today at the main post office here. No joy! Didn't have the Bonsai Trees either. Woe is me!

I did process a second one. The date is a little more legible, but not by much ... and I should point out that these were both processed with a stiffener of postcard thickness inside the cover. At least they got back to me in one day ... that alone is an accomplishment:
