I just opened the package of stamps from my 2006 USPS Commemorative Stamp Yearbook and right away realized something was wrong with my
"Chacon Madonna and Child with Bird" stamp. Is this that unusual that this happened and does it make the stamp worth more or less??
Supposedly, the USPS would replace a stamp like this for me--but now that it's 2008 I doubt they would ,even though I just bought the Yearbook earlier this year.

Thanks!

Hi Gussy....

Looks to me like just a poor cutting from a double sided booklet pane. With both stamps cut there is not much value except that at least one could be used as postage.

It's an interesting oddity, but IMHO probably not worth much over face.

Why are error coins(and bills) worth so much, but error stamps are worth only face?

Kropewnicki, look on disappointment bay and you'll find freaks and error stamps running at pretty high cost. Not too long ago someone was trying to sell the new US Flag 24/7 "night" stamp (with the extra stripe) for $49.99! I couldn't believe it--especially when you can get a coil of 100 for $42.

I was disappointed about this particular Christmas stamp because it came in the 2006 USPS Commemorative Yearbook! You'd think they'd make sure there was a decent stamp of each in the package.
