A New York Times article posted a short while ago about the profitability of the USPS in issuing wedding-related stamps:

I found it particularly interesting that they have quoted $ amounts of profit made from each of the five wedding-related stamp issues that totals well over $1 billion in sales.

Apparently this is a high profit area for the USPS, so they do what they can to promote it heavily:
