Hello to all...nice to meet you. I have a quite a few stamps that my mom had collected through the years. She passed away a couple of years ago and it's taken me a while to bing myself to look through them..I use to help her by bringing her any stamps I came across in my travells. I'm new to this and am not sure how to go about asking about certain stamps. These are the first ones I came to. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

Just a side note. The A-XX numbers are illustration numbers in Scott's Catalog. The actual Catalog number for Postage Stamps will not have a letter in front of it. Only Back of Book, Airmails, Revenue Stamps, Parcel Post etc. are the Catalog numbers preceded by a letter. |

Sorry FootballPh. but a #10 would be imperf. This is more likely a #26 Type II 1857-1861 Don't have a current value, $7 by my 2003 Scotts And yes, welcome Idaclare. Looks like you've inherited a terrific collection. |

A25 is Scott # 65
A45 is Scott # 135
A57 is Scott # 213

Further correction Mr. Foot (it's shorter) the fourth stamp is Andrew Jackson either 1875 SC#178 vermilion perf 12 on yellowish wove paper or 1879 SC#183 on soft porous paper. Again catalogue value is minimal $10 or $3 respectively (2003 prices). |

tomd The problem with your examples is 1) the perforations and 2) the outer frame line on the top and bottom in your pictures is not on idaclares stamp. On the 26 those top and bottom frame lines were removed. |

Welcome Idaclare to the family!
It's NOT a 10. It's perforated and it's probably a #26 like James said AND it's sporting a December 26Th CDS. |

The third stamp from the top is 1883 SC# 210 red brown while the bottom stamp, same design, different colour is 1887 SC#213 green.
I'll leave the second stamp to the experts. Variations in colour on this one are difficult to determine with a scan. |

Thank-you all so much for your replies and greetings.
You helped me out tremendously and I very much appreciate this. I hope that I might be able to ask about and post some other stamps as I go along.
Thanks again.
Take care for now.
