Hi guys

Sorry to bug you, I was looking through my (few) American stamps and came across this Scott # 135 that is suppose to be Red-Brown according to Scott...My really looks orange...Is that just my eyes or what..???

That colour is vermilion. That would be a 178 or 183 depending on the paper.

Here is a #146 red brown (no grill) on the left, with a #157 brown for comparison.

Check Scott #183. I suspect that's the stamp you have.

Maybe my scanner, but boy it looks orange in my hand.

It's not your scanner wert, vermilion is a kind of orange (a yellow-red)

Hi sirruspoe...Thanks for the link to that post...It helps.

I used a program (good one to and free) that removes a lot of the cancellation so you can see more of the stamp and let me lighten it up a bit...See below, and it still looks orange...Compare the colour (and lack of cancellation) with my first post.

The program I use is available for Windows people.
