I have come to the part that I was dreading in the process of cataloging, to the Washington's. There are so many things to look for in this group that it can be maddening, forget about the eyes popping out of my head I am sure though as I go through these, the process will get better HA! Below is my latest item in question. I have used the site 1847usa for reference as well as searches here to help determine the correct Scott # for this item. My relative had this classified as a 453 with a question mark behind the number. What I can tell for sure is; 1. it is rotary printed 2. it is perf 10 and 3. it is horizontal coil. What I can't finalize is the type. There seems to be a hundred (exaggeration) numbers this could be and with the wide range of values I'd like to be close as possible. What I think I have seen are characteristics of each type but I think what I have ruled out is it being a type II (couldn't be so lucky) but is why I share it with the forum for feedback.

All help most appreciated!

This is type 3, so either SC 455 or 492 depending on watermark. The key type indicator is in the scroll above the right numeral 2. It has all the shading lines so it is type 3 for sure.
