Hello,

I ran across this today and have to ask what happened. This stamp has an image on the back; is this from transfer off the original envelop or something else? I do see this stamp has a note for printing on both sides but could this be what is meant?

Thanks,

Most probably the image from the paper it was attached to. Or the original paper is still attached to the Stamp.

stallzer, is what I was thinking also but of all the loose used stamps in this collection (have 30+ just of this type stamp), this is the first I have seen this on any stamp and so clear an image. Except where an old stiff hinge used to be the stamp itself is very thin same as others.

Thanks for your input!

Looks like some sort of offset from the document it was attached to. I've seen that before. Does it look like there is still some gum on the back?

Nells, it does feel a bit tacky and looks glossy in spots.

I have a similar one which I will post an image of later when I get home from work.

Here is mine, notice the scroll work on the back upper left corner how it appears to be part of the Stamp as it is clear of the existing paper.
