I tried taking this stamp to a stamp and coin shop to have it measured but the guy there seemed to mostly deal in coins and only knew how to look up stamps in the stamp price guide. He had a perforation gauge and said it was perf 11 and the horizontal matched the 19.25 but he said the vertical looked liked it was 22 and 1/4th, because it couldn't possibly be a 22 1/2th. But at that point he backed away and suggested I take it to a stamp show and said he wouldn't be a buyer. So I come to you guys before I go to a stamp show that is being held next weekend. Well this is the stamp in question, is there anything you can tell me from this scan? Or is there anything I could do to give more details?

If you have looked at 552's, 632's, and the oddball perfs for 50 years, maybe 100,000 stamps, it helps identification. The color and impression scream 552. If you turn the stamp over, there should be little green specks of ink on the back - that means "flat press".

ok I finally see what you mean, so I have to find one with the same dimensions, a bit darker forest green color, and a deeper impression on the engraving, right?

I omitted this fact before but are you sure it's a 552? There is a post mark saying it's 1938 which should be the years of scott 632 to 632a, but the dimensions seem too big for those, is it likely an earlier version of the stamp be sent out years later?
