I have a good question what is the best way to separate coil stamps. I bought the two new rolls of the flag issues. They are cool but I'm not sure how to separate them.

There just isn't any right way to separate them so that there is paper behind the perfs. Any suggestions?

This is not a very good solution, but it is all that I could think of.
You could use every other stamp for postage.
Then cut out the remaining stamps with a margin of paper on each side.
