Hello all, as I mentioned in the header, I've just recently received a lot of stamps and first day covers, and I know nothing about this hobby. I'm familiar enough with ebay and other searches, and I do intend to sell them off, but any advice and suggestions from collectors like yourselves, would be greatly appreciated.
Is the value of a stamp affected by being on a torn off corner of an envelope, or from adhered to an album page? So many details and questions I have.
A few noteworthy items ( or are they?)
A 1995 Britannic cover that was taken to the wreck site, hand cancelled there, and signed by explorer Robert Ballard, artis Ken Marschall, and historian Eric Sauder.
A 1981 cover for the Space Shuttle, with a large gold foil stamp on the left side of the envelope.
A sealed packet of "Golden Value Quality Packets, 40 Space- Rockets" with different stamps from different countries, the stamps that are visible are dated from 1960 to 1972.
A fold out postcard-like entitled "United States Stamps Commemorative Collection" from Antaya, with a keychain holding an "Authentic Mint Postage Stamp hand cast in Crystal Jewelers enamel", an 8 cent stamp depicting the "Rise of the Spirit of Independence" ( Paul Revere on horse, I think.)
I look forward to any and all responses, thank you.

Most of what you describe is what's similar to Readers digest, Bradford exchange type of commemorative and thematic items. To the right collector they might be worth a few bucks. Can't speak for the 1995 Britannic cover, not too sure what things like that go for as I don't collect modern material and it won't be in any catalog that I know of. Post up some pictures here and you'll get some good answers as a picture is worth a Thousand guesses.

Thank you for your responses! Could you recommend an online site where I would be able to check the rarity or commonality of stamps and covers? With thousands of individual stamps to look through, plus dozens of covers, I'm not sure where to begin. And I should point out, I'm not expecting to make a killing with these, I would just like to make small money while getting them to collector's who would appreciate them. Thanks again!

I always look at ebay myself. I know that is not the catalogue price and is sometimes way above the cataogue price but you can see sometimes what things sell for.

Just look by country and by reign (royalty) or topic. Look at a country on ebay until you see one like yours and that will be the general name of the monarch (hopefully).

There is no site really.

Look at a Scott catalogue in the library I guess.

People selling stamps have sites but they expect you to know the year or catalogue number mostly of the stamps you want.

Depends on the condition also. Just because it looks the same, yours might be on better or worse condition. Or maybe even have a strange perforation or colour shade or paper. Details details.

If you do compare values with ebay, on the left side of the page there will be a check box "Completed listings", use this as a barometer as there is a difference in what people are trying to sell things for and what they actually do sell for.

I'm guessing it's mostly common material. When the stamps are worth a few cents, it's really not worth it to list on ebay due to the seller's fees and such. Best to give those stamps away to a charity or something of the like.

Indications of possible value are a write up, a stamp catalogue, etc.
