These really make the modern meters look sad.......love the colors !

Is this where the smiley face came from ?

There was even a Pitney-Bowes mini-eagle

Nice set of colorful meters with great slogans.
I especially like the WWII patriotics!

Agreed T.....

I wish we had things like this in today's mail. I remember as a kid I had well over 100 types/styles and colors.

Very nice, NR.

Do you have any Costa Rica meters? I am a Costa Rica specialist.

Sorry David....none from Costa Rica.

As a general rule I don't hunt for meters, but when they're basicly foundlings I can't just toss them out.

These are newer meters from Japan's Prefectures, sent to me and still on cover......always thought a full set would look pretty nice.

And this still on cover from Saudia Arabia.

And I love this cover from Brazil. Here's my address for anyone who wants it.

This one has the Mobil logo, and on the truck it says "Mobileheat". It's a little ragged, but it is one I inherited.

There's some great looking meters here and although the last entry was 2008, there are surely lots of new members who have some interesting meters to share
One of my favorite USA slogan meters, issued in 1940 at a time when there may have been paper shortages and meters replaced stamps

I've posted this in other threads, but I always found this common 1968 PB meter interesting as the bank was promoting "Master Charge is coming...". It apparently hadn't arrived yet at the time the slogan meter was used.

As I'm sure most of you know, Master Charge was the forerunner to today's MasterCard, just as Bank Americard was the forerunner to Visa.

Meters are a great little "side" interest - I dont actively pursue them but when one comes up in my areas of interest I will pick it up - only have small number at the moment but the numbers will no doubt grow (albeit slowly)

Was there a Smokey the Bear Meter? I know there was a handstamp but didn't know if a meter existed. I like the keep em flying ones. I really enjoy the political/patriotic/sales messages that some of the handstamps and meters had. You don't ever see anything like that any more. I remember going through some GB stuff one night and seeing a "kitkat" cancel. It was interesting to read about why they did the product sales things. I guess people just want their mail to go somewhere now and don't really care how. Many people I buy from use stamps to send packages and I like that, but there are a few (dealers) that I buy from that print and tape the good ole ebay shipping thing. *sigh* soon we will all just be talking about the latest and greatest QR2 code on our boxes at this rate.
