Hi all.

My mother has just given back my collection after its been collecting dust for years. I was having a look through to see if I could find anything of value and come across this. Is the one I am thinking of? If not, how can you tell?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum nofe4r

The stamp you have shown is quite common but these are a specialty among the Washington-Franklin head collectors.

You might want to try this site for atarters and it is really informative http://www.1847usa.com/washfrankmain.htm

Another worthwhile site is http://www.usstamps.org/washington-franklin.html

Nofe4r, my info says it should measure 19.25mm x 22.75mm for a start.

Nofe4r, welcome to SCF. The 1922 series 1 cent coil waste had 2 different perforation types. Scott 578 was perf 11x10 and Scott 594 was perf 11x11. The coil waste all came from the early printings of the coil Scott 597 and were printed in green. The image posted is the distinctive yellow green of the later printings. If you check the perfs they will be 11x10.5 as this stamp is the Scott 632.
