Welcome to Stamp Collecting Forum!

In response to your question, I must say that (unfortunately) not too many stamped pieces arrive in my mail from non-collectors. The occasional greeting card is about it.

However, I've also learned about postage meters and other postal markings that may be contained on the average piece of junk mail I receive. It's a new trend, and some would frown upon it, but as a collector, anything related to postal use is fair game to collect, in my opinion. Besides, the decline in postage stamp use today will only make them more collectible in the future because of the limited numbers being used on day-to-day mail.

I, too, use up a lot of low value stamps as postage on bills or whatever. I especially like the 20c George Washington stamps you can get at the post office. Add a couple of them along with a 5c stamp and you have first class postage and can dress up your mail a bit at the same time. Of course, you can also do something similar with the postcard rate stamps and/or any number of the smaller denominations.

Welcome to the Forum hartwell.

The only stamped mail I receive is from other collectors or dealers.

Email has just about done away with the stamped letter.

I don't receive much mail, and what little I do usually does not have any stamps at all (junk mail). The few pieces of mail that I do get with actual stamps on them usually have the current definitive stamp. However, I am fortunate in that I have a local source that receives bill payments and I get to sort through their received envelopes and cut out what stamps I want. So I have been able to get a lot of the current regular and commemorative stamps that way.

there does seem like there are less and less stamps I get in the mail.
this can be certainly a reason why the postal service is having such problems to exist.

Most of the stamped mail that I receive is from non-profit organizations seeking donations.

Same here. Occasionally get shocked comments from people that I am using such 'Valuable' stamps as postage!
