I'm helping a 7-year old boy start a collection and I would appreciate some help finding stamp collection websites that explain things at his level.

He especially enjoys finding the countries on his globe and excited that he can have things that come from other countries. (Never mind that nearly everything he owns comes from other countries!)

Any ideas?

Karen

You are doing a good thing Karen.

If you email me through the forum and give me an address, I would be happy to send him some worldwide stamps to help get him started.

Hello Karen,

There are two websites that have new youth sites with tons of FREE resources.

The first is the American Topical Association. There is a bimonthly publication called "Topical Tidbits" that features a different topic. The first was on "Penguins" and the second on "Fun Foods." The third will be going up any day now and is about the 7 continents. There is also a printable guide to collecting stamps and topical album pages that can be printed out.

Be sure to read the 2nd to the last page in the Fun Foods edition. There is a contest!

Here's the link to that site:

The second website that has a new youth section is the Wisconsin Federation of Stamp Clubs.

They also have printable album pages and several other resources. Things will be going up there as they are developed. There are also activity sheets that can be printed out.

These can be found at:

The third website I would recommend is the APS's. Their youth section is also very nice. There is a Young Stamp Collector's of America Club that kids can join for a fee. This gives them access to an online newsletter and there is a monthly chat room meeting they can attend. They also get stamps in the mail a few times a year.

Their site is:

Hope that helps and I wish you the best!

Aimee

I forgot to mention that there are two other contests going on for kids. Information for both can be found here:
