Does anyone else here go off on tangents buying multiple cheaper classics if they're well centered ? I've always thought that nice margins really add the chips to the proverbial Cookie and make the stamp really stand out. Some I have been trying to find are near impossible like the 115. Please post up you scans of well centered, nice balanced margins of your classics.

A couple of 65's I picked up this week.

I haven't reached the point of trying to upgrade my collection because I am still trying to obtain decent copies of stamps that I don't have.

Here are two with respectable centering:

This Scott 115 has been "good enough" since I got it in 1983 and I imagine it will remain so for quite some time.

Lovely 63! Beautiful centering. Your 115 is better than you think, I've been looking hard and heavy for an XF piece but those are so far and few between that they are fetching a good return. Yours has very good margins for that stamp.

STALLZER- I found this today while browsing and thought you may be interested. You mentioned you was seriously hunting down a good centered 115 so here you go. This one in my opinion is perfect.

It's on my watch list but I'd still prefer one with a little more margin and that pulled perf on the bottom bugs me and it's already at $28.

I seen that just now too. Sorry. It might be just folded up from going in and out of the stockbook/vario sheet or whatever. I was just trying to help.

No problem at all Jeff. I've been going back and forth on whether or not to toss a bid at it or not. 4 Margin copies of this Stamp all seem to be fetching around or over $100.00 so it will be interesting to see where this one finishes at. Currently sitting around $40.00 as of this posting.

That's a nice 114 but that too has a nibbed perf top left. but you knew that already. It's much better than mine. I am looking for a great 112 at the moment. then the hunt for the dreaded #120 begins! Also a nicely centered #149 or #160 7¢ Stanton.

Here's another Scott 113 with decent centering. I would have prefered a lighter cancel but I'm okay with it as it highlights the grill.

I am definitely one who chases well centered classics (and newer issues too). I love to find them at a bargain - it can take a while looking through stuff to find something spectacular at a bargain price. I've added maybe a couple hundred over the past 5 or so years. Here's a few of my favorites:

And one other - not really from the classic period, but I love it anyway.

I'm just impressed at you finding two well-priced well-centred 65s in one week. Obviously I've moved on to precancels right now, but part of the reason is frustration at the hours of slogging online through lists of US classic stamp offerings only to find nothing well-centred at the end of the effort.

Scott 158 (I think) with difficult to find margins.
