Hey, the cancel tells you where and when it was used. that's great.
I know most collectors don't appreciate a good cancel (with readable information) and would rather prefer just a touch of a cancel and to be able to see most of the design of the stamp (and I would too at times) but having a period cancel is worth it to me. Adds character to the collection.
If worried about selling this then draw attention to the centering (not bad) and the great cancel. Go with its strengths.
Never remove a cancel, period. That Stamp has character and has fulfilled it's Postal obligation and is now a part of History. Not only did it get 1 strike, but it appears to have been on a registered cover, New York ? I'll never understand pulling a Stamp off of a registered cover unless of course it's for preservation.
